NEW1000 Study governance has been carefully structured to include internal and external oversight for the study and includes:

  • The Executive Board, chaired by Professor Frances Kay-Lambkin, Director, Hunter Medical Research Institute

  • External Advisory Board, chaired by Professor Mike Calford, Former Director, Hunter Medical Research Institute

  • Consumer reference group, chaired by Melinda Cruz, Founder, Miracle Babies

  • Risk management committee, chaired by Claire Drelincourt, Chief Operating Officer, Hunter Medical Research Institute

  • Translational committee, chaired by Professor Chris Levi, Director of Clinical Research and Translation, Hunter Medical Research Institute

  • Indigenous reference group, chaired by Nathan Towney, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Strategy and Leadership, The University of Newcastle

  • Study management, chaired by Professor Craig Pennell, Chief Investigator, NEW1000 Study, Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, The University of Newcastle. 

  • Data management, chaired by Carol Wang, Biostatisician
